But we at INGV remember 29 September for another reason.
On 29 September 1999 our Institute was born and this year it celebrates its first 20 years!
To celebrate the anniversary together, INGV is organizing a series of meetings, conferences and presentations that will take place in the various offices of the institution.
In Rome, Sunday 29 September 2019, the headquarters will open its doors to the public from 10 to 19 with an extraordinary Open Day.

We will present the institution's many activities through five exhibition itineraries in an extraordinary journey to discover the strength of volcanoes, the energy of earthquakes and the wonders of our environment.

In the conference room we will hold informative meetings with the musical interludes curated by the association Emusic who creates his music using, among other things, the sounds of the Earth.
We will open the doors of our seismic and tsunami monitoring room.
In all the itineraries we have provided a space dedicated to children aged 5 to 12.
While younger children and older kids can visit the routes together with their parents.
Reservations for the courses will be made directly upon arrival at the Institute.
Based on the time you want to stay with us, it will be possible to visit all the itineraries or choose the ones that interest you the most.
Also, in the mornings of Monday 30 September and Tuesday 1 October the institutional meetings will be held which foresee the presence of the President of the Council of Ministers, of the Minister of the Environment and of the Minister of Education, University and Research.
In the afternoons of 30 September and 1 October, two conferences of a scientific nature will be held aimed at universities, research institutions and professional associations.
But the events for the anniversary of our twentieth anniversary do not end here!
They will continue in all the Sections and Locations of INGV according to a calendar of events that will be communicated from time to time.
