The next Monday March 10, at Museum of the Benedictine Monastery Factory of Catania, the exhibition will be inaugurated “The Study of Etna - Between Tools and Representations” edited byUniversity of Catania in collaboration with the 'National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).

The exhibition, which can be visited free of charge until the 30 April, will exhibit ancient works to the public scientific instruments used for the study of Etna, videos and reproductions of documents from the Historical Archives of the University of Catania and the State Archives of Catania, to tell the fascinating and fruitful interaction between the different scientific disciplines that, over the centuries, have contributed to the birth and development of modern volcanology.

The scientific instruments that will make up the exhibition itinerary come from the collections of the Museum of Ancient Physics Instruments and Museum of Mineralogy, Petrography and Volcanology of the University of Catania and  historical collection of the Etna Observatory of the INGV: unique pieces that tell how, over the years, volcanology has established itself as an experimental science.

Visitors will be able to venture out to discover a exceptional historical and cultural heritage, the result of volcanological research conducted in Catania from the 18th to the 20th century.

For access to the exhibition Reservations are required.

All visits will be free and guided and will last approximately one hour..

Visiting hours are as follows:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 14pm, 30pm, 15pm, 30pm

Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday: 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30
