On the occasion of Earth Day, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) launch the contest "A Planet to Discover", the initiative dedicated to primary school pupils for the creation of the school calendar 2027.
An activity designed to encourage young students to look around with curiosity and become little explorers of the Earth: observing their surroundings, discovering the beauty of nature in all its colors, and learning to recognize what is precious to everyone's life.
Also for this edition, the competition avails itself of the collaboration of the NET ScienzaInsieme Project.
How to participate
Primary school students can send their drawings to the address:

The papers must be sent no later than June 15, 2026, in A4 format (21x29,7 cm), on sheets without lines or squares.
The following information must be written in block letters on the back of each drawing:
- If you participate through the school:
- Participant's name
- class and section
- School name, address, telephone number and email
- Name, surname, telephone number and email address of the contact teacher for communications
- If you participate privately:
- Participant's name
- class and section
- School name, address, telephone number and email
- Reference email for communications
It is essential that the drawings arrive intact and without creases.
Awards
The drawings will be selected on the basis of originality, spontaneity and autonomy of realization.
The winning works will become part of the INGV Calendar for the 2027 school year!
Furthermore, Copies of the calendar will be sent to all participating classes and schools that request them..
The drawings submitted will not be returned and will become the property of INGV, which may use them for training and scientific dissemination purposes.
