The event, entirely dedicated to volcanology, represents an opportunity for scientists to meet and discuss the most recent research and the evolution of volcano monitoring systems.

 

The excellences of Italian volcanology will meet in Sicily in the 'Alfred Rittmann Conference' which will be held from 29 September to 1 October 2022.
In the setting of the Monastery of San Nicolò l'Arena in Catania, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) with the Italian Association of Volcanology (AIV), the University of Catania and the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior (IAVCEI), organize the fifth edition of the Conference which, since 2009, represents the most relevant moment of scientific comparison for the entire Italian volcanological community, in which sector experts meet to take stock of the latest research .
The aim of the appointment, named after the father of contemporary volcanology and hosted in a jewel of Sicily, is to promote and encourage scientific debate on recent developments in research and monitoring activities in the field of volcanology.
For this edition, the Scientific Committee of the Conference has selected 21 study sessions among those proposed by the volcanological community belonging to Universities, Research Institutions, Public Territorial Management Institutions, Civil Protection structures, Associations, favoring as much as possible the multidisciplinary approach to the topics covered, including those related to communication and dissemination.
