Tomorrow, March 7, 2019, the press conference for the presentation of the "Safety school" event promoted by the Civil Protection of the Municipality of Rende in collaboration with the local branch of the National Institute of Geophysics will be held at the Hall of the Municipality of Rende and Volcanology (INGV).
The initiative includes a series of two educational meetings with primary school children and first-year secondary school students to be held on 14 and 20 March at the John Paul II Palacultura (Via Gioacchino Rossini, Rende). The aim of the event is to spread the culture of seismic prevention in schools by designing educational courses that make students and teachers aware of seismic phenomena, their causes, consequences and the measures to be taken for risk mitigation.
Tomorrow's press conference will also be attended by Piero Del Gaudio, researcher and coordinator of the event for INGV: "We are pleased to collaborate on this project with the Municipality of Rende", he declared, "the seismic phenomena, in fact, must be considered an emergency primary school in Calabria: for this reason we believe it is necessary, through play experiences and workshops, to make even the youngest literate on these very delicate issues".
