The International School of Geophysics of the Ettore Majorana Foundation of Erice and Center for Scientific Culture has elected its new director: Fabio Florindo, President of INGV

 Fabio Florindo, President of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) is the new director of the International School of Geophysics of the Ettore Majorana Foundation of Erice

President Florindo has been appointed by Prof. Antonino Zichichi as the new director of the International School of Geophysics of the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Scientific Culture Center (EMFCSC) of Erice. He succeeds Prof. Enzo Boschi in this prestigious role.

This nomination represents an important recognition and confirms the Foundation's desire to continue along the path of excellence in training and promoting scientific culture at an international level.
“It is an honor to receive this assignment in a place that has hosted some of the brightest minds in contemporary science,” said Florindo. “The Erice School of Geophysics has represented and will continue to represent a fundamental meeting point for the development and sharing of geophysical knowledge at a global level. I enthusiastically intend to continue this tradition of excellence by offering young talents an environment where they can grow, exchange ideas and become the future bright minds of geophysics.” 

The Ettore Majorana Foundation and Center for Scientific Culture, founded in 1963 by physicist Antonino Zichichi, is a world-renowned institution dedicated to advanced scientific education and the promotion of dialogue between scientists from around the world. Located in the historic town of Erice, Sicily, the Center annually hosts numerous international schools and workshops on advanced topics in physics, chemistry, biology, medicine and environmental sciences.

 Over the years, the Center has become a point of reference for the international scientific community, welcoming 159 Nobel Prize winners and high-profile researchers and promoting the meeting between different scientific cultures in a context of great historical and cultural value.
