With reference to some press reports spread in the last few days, which report an increase in activity in Stromboli with "possible explosions, lava flows and landslides", it is clarified that the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) has not communicated any significant variation in the state of eruptive activity which continues to remain at the ordinary level of the volcano and, therefore, there is no forecast of imminent strong explosions, lava flows or landslides.

The information reported by the press was taken from the 'Expected Scenarios' section of the "Weekly Bulletin on the multi-parameter monitoring of the Stromboli volcano of 20/05/2025", which reports the possibility that in the days following the release of the bulletin, the aforementioned phenomena of greater intensity may occur which are not predictable and, in any case, are not comparable to the more intense phenomena such as paroxysms, prolonged lava flows and major landslides on the Sciara del Fuoco, such as those observed during the eruptive crisis of summer 2024.
All information on the current status of the active Aeolian volcanoes, including real-time signals, is available on the website of theINGV Etna Observatory (INGV-OE) and INGV Aeolian Islands Monitoring Center (INGV-CME), and any changes in activity will be promptly communicated to the Civil Protection bodies and published on the aforementioned websites.
