Last May 16th, in the spaces of theUniversity of Cagliari, the award ceremony took place 23rd edition of the “Filippo Basile” Award, one of the most prestigious national awards dedicated to effective training practices in the public sector, promoted byItalian Trainers Association (AIF) to identify the training courses most useful for responding to citizens' needs.

THENational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) was awarded the Second prize and  Special mention from the Scientific Committee for the theme 'Sustainability' for the project “CON.I.RI. (Living with Natural Risks) - Educational Paths aimed at preventing and mitigating seismic and hydrogeological risks. A 'nudge' to act on behaviors for the reduction of natural disasters at school”.

The award ceremony, which was also attended by the Minister for Public Administration Paolo Zangrillo, took place within a three-day event of meetings and exchanges between researchers, administrators, professionals and trainers of the PA.

The researcher, who collected the award and the special mention from the Scientific Committee for INGV, Giovanna Lucia Piangiamore, coordinator of CON.I.RI., project sent to the evaluators of the Basile Prize by the INFEA Node of the Metropolitan City of Messina as example of best practice developed according to the behavioral economics theory of the “gentle nudge” (Nudge) for the development of the Life Saving Skills with a view to Lifelong Learning and Transformative Learning within the project “Future Responsible Citizens 2.0”, among the activities of the agreement between INGV and AssoCEA Messina Aps.

CON.I.RI. stood out among the 29 competitors in the “Training processes and projects” section for its originality, its ability to generate a widespread and lasting positive impact on education for the mitigation of natural risks and for the quality of the training network built.

The recognition confirms once again theINGV's commitment to training and dissemination and the ability to network with local entities, developing profitable and widespread collaborations for raise awareness on the issues of seismic and hydrogeological risk and danger

The next 3 Octobermoreover, the University of Turin will host the “Showcase of the Excellence of Public Administrations participating in the Basile Prize 2025”, with projects deemed to be of excellence invited to participate for an exchange between institutions and the extended description of what has been achieved.
