A whole week of high-level meetings to promote open access to observation data of our Planet and encourage the exchange of knowledge between Institutions, Scientific Bodies, Organizations and stakeholders

The GEO Global Forum 5 “The Earth Talks”, the main event of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), the global intergovernmental initiative for the promotion of open and equitable access to Earth observation data in situ and from space, will be held in Rome from 9 to 2025 May at the Auditorium della Tecnica Congress Centre.

The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) participates in the Forum with a round table on the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction adopted by the UN in 2015, aimed at national and international institutions, and with a stand where the numerous activities and lines of research of the Institute will be presented to a global audience, as well as its skills and capabilities in application and service issues.

The 2025 edition of the GEO Global Forum includes a rich calendar of events: workshops, flash talks and showcases for knowledge exchange and networking; a GEO Plenary, the Group's highest decision-making body composed of representatives of approximately 120 member countries and over 140 participating organizations; an exhibition with stands where countries, companies, institutions and stakeholders present their activities; a ministerial summit to renew and strengthen high-level commitment in GEO.

The GEO Global Forum 2025 will also mark GEO’s twentieth anniversary, reflecting the growing importance of its themes of interest and its open access approach to scientific data to continuously improve knowledge on a global scale.
