REDI (REducing natural risks DISaster)
REDI is a research, innovation and training centre. Its mission is to contribute to the development of interdisciplinary research to improve disaster preparedness and response by communities, decreasing the time to recover and recover. The approach adopted is that of knowledge-for-action, which implies an unceasing commitment to implement the virtuous circle between knowledge and innovation in order to be able to act effectively and without obstacles, so that the advancement of science and technological progress can interact positively to maximize their respective impacts, including at a social level. REDI is made up of an open partnership of Italian and European research institutes and universities that carry out in-depth research in the field of "natural risks reduction", with the aim of starting an international hub where innovative methodologies are developed for: i) the co- planning, in collaboration with citizens, communities, governments at different levels and all interested parties; ii) the implementation of ecologically sustainable solutions integrated in solid development policies, for the mitigation of the consequences and/or the reduction of the risks of disasters. REDI was founded by 4 Italian research institutes: INGV, INFN, GSSI and UNICAM.
