The spread of the COVID19 (Coronavirus) in Italy and Europe and the ensuing adoption of countermeasures by most European governments, including the Italian government, are forcing us to cancel the 43rd Course of the “International School of Geophysics” .

Aim of the Course
The 43rd Course is organized to honor the founder of the School, Enzo Boschi, who passed away on 22 December 2018, by reviving his dedication to all branches of Geophysics and to the training of young scientists.

The Course is organized by Boschi's colleagues from the University of Bologna and from the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia and has three fundamental goals:
- honoring the memory of Enzo Boschi by recounting his accomplishments, both in basic research and in all areas of societal relevance he touched upon in his career;
- providing an overview of the most recent accomplishments in the areas of Geophysics that were dearest to him, directly from the voice of about 20 top-notch Italian and international scientists, who will report on the state-of-the-art and on the perspectives of their disciplines for the third millennium;
- creating a high-level forum for young promising post-doc scientists and PhD students, who will have the opportunity to meet leading scientists in their respective fields of expertise, thus reviving the goals and the atmosphere of previous courses of the International School of Geophysics.

Participation of self-supported applicants:
Participation is limited by the maximum occupancy of the Centre (about 100 people). Participants are requested to stay for the entire length of the Course (arrival on 16 March, departure on 20 March). Applications should be sent to the Organizing Committee by filling this FORM. Applicants will be selected by order of submission and in the attempt to promote the largest possible multidisciplinarity. Please write to
Participation and grant application of Students and Young Scientists:
A number of GRANTS are available to support the participation of postgraduate students, PhD students, and postdocs. The grants cover the full boarding in Erice and transportation from/to Palermo or Trapani airport to/from Erice. Notice that the grants do not cover the travel expenses from the country of residence of the applicant to Palermo or Trapani Airport, or directly to Erice. To apply please fill this FORM.
